The International Pet Industry Exhibition «ParkZoo», held in September 2025 at Crocus Expo in Moscow, reaffirmed the pet industry’s position as one of the most dynamically developing sectors of the Russian economy.
More than 300 exhibiting companies from Russia, Belarus, China, and other countries took part in the event. Over the course of three days, more than 15,500 industry professionals attended the exhibition.
The show featured cutting-edge technological solutions, including apps and smart devices for pet care, as well as functional treats—the fastest-growing product category in the pet industry, with sales increasing by nearly 25% in 2024.
In the past three years, approximately 350 new domestic pet product brands have entered the Russian market. Over 200 new products were showcased in the «ParkZoo» New Products Showcase, including more than 100 types of pet food, dozens of treats, and 30 veterinary medicines.
Companies representing all major market segments were present: retail and wholesale businesses, pet food and accessory manufacturers. Among the visitors were veterinary clinic and pharmacy directors, as well as owners of grooming salons and pet hotels.
The diversity of represented sectors reflects the maturity of the market. Retail chains are demonstrating readiness for large-scale expansion; local production of pet food—including premium lines—as well as toys, accessories, and care products is steadily growing.
The service segment is also developing confidently. According to surveys, one in four Russians has begun spending more on pet-related services, including veterinary care, pet-sitting, and specialized travel for animals.
About the Pet Market
Between 2023 and 2024, the Russian pet products market grew by 17%, driven largely by import substitution.
The majority of the market (82%) is made up of dog and cat food. The sustained growth of this segment continues to attract new players from other sectors of the economy, including the agro-industrial complex.
Over the past three years, around 20 new pet food production facilities have been launched in Russia, while the share of imported pet food has dropped to below 10%.
Dialogue with Regulators and Business Protection: Highlights of the Business Program
The ParkZoo business program reflected the current challenges faced by market participants.
The introduction of mandatory labeling for veterinary medicines and pet food has raised a number of financial, technical, and organizational issues. These were discussed during a conference held at the exhibition, which brought together representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (operator of the “Chestny Znak” labeling system), and members of the pet industry.
A second conference, dedicated to new development opportunities for the pet industry, served as a platform for open dialogue between business representatives and the National Pet Industry Association (NPIA).
Manufacturers and retailers outlined the most pressing market concerns, which will be taken into account as the NPIA develops its next action plan to protect the rights and interests of industry participants.
“The pet market is showing maturity and readiness for large-scale growth,”
says Natalia Morgunova, Director of ARTIS Expo, the organizer of ParkZoo.
“The professional community is open to partnerships with new players, including agricultural holdings and national retail chains.”
The next «ParkZoo» Exhibition will take place on September 23–25, 2026, and will serve as a key platform for forming strategic partnerships and launching new products onto the market.
